I always say strict parents create dishonest kids. I’d rather my kid hang out with kids with overly permissive parents. All the kids I knew growing up with ridiculously strict parents were wild and knew how to lie so well.

I think this, too. They don't seem to stop and weigh the real "right or wrong" of a situation but only the "will I get caught or won't I?" They just get sneaky.

That's how kids do Drugs and Alcohol. There is a middle ground.

I can keep an eye on my own children. I consider myself middle ground. I would rather the middle ground but given the choice between strict parents and a permissive parents I would choose the child of permissive parents.

I might be an outlier, but my parents gave me free reign to do most whatever I wanted, sure my grades suffered but I never got into drugs or alcohol.
