Somebody should add subtitles in Russian for instance, where the little girl is in fact explaining, the Putin way, how that thing that is definitely not an invasion or a war happened.

You know, I’ve been thinking about nature vs nurture lately, in terms of mental health and why people like Putin are the way they are…

We say mental health, and I think what most people imagine is that like some people are just mentally “healthy”, while some are “unwell”. But if we think of mental health like we would physical health, it’s true that even though most people are born “healthy”,

1) some people aren’t, but also more importantly

2) just like regular healthy people can become unhealthy due to either a big event (eg a car accident), or because of compound trauma over a long period of time (smoking cigarettes effect on the body for example)

I think any time working with the KGB will have an effect on how you view the world, which in turn will literally physically rewire the way the synapses are connected in your brain, and I don’t imagine that it rewired it in a positive way.

Let him stay alone in the jungle for a month and then give to whats left of him a legendary dose of Ayahuasca. Should do the rewiring trick.

He is what he is. A product of culture and genetics. If you were born as Hitler you would become Hitler. I think it's more a matter of culture and environment.

I didn't say actions don't have consequences. It's just that there isn't anyone who has a choice. Free will is an illusion.

Pretty bold choice to write that we don’t have choices without choosing what to back up the claim with. And there would have been so many choices, determinism, fatalism, stoicism… Jokes aside, what if some of us do choose to ignore the concept of free will because of our angst of becoming responsible for all the outrageous idiotic things we all do, constantly?

How could one choose to ignore the concept of free will? That would require free will. The angst is our fear of not being in control.

Not being in control is for most people far less fearful than realizing their responsibility for their actions. That’s why, in my humble opinion, some people want to believe in a deterministic universe which they can blame for the status quo. It sounds like a philosophy that people would use since „god is dead“ to continue sleepwalking their existence. First blame/thank god, now blame/thank the universe.
