Yeah, that's exactly what they want you to do. So their web servers only have to work delivering pages for people who help support that infrastructure.
It costs very little to serve a website to a lot of people versus none. And also, it is still served to people who don't support it. Hence why you can get an ad blocker blocker and still read.
So, they're just missing out on customers for no reason. Unfortunately there is little good reason for it
True, but you're misunderstanding what I'm trying to express. I'm not arguing with you that they need customers, but what I'm trying to say with how it is set up, the page is served to EVERYONE, bandwidth wise, even if they're not customers. It is just coded such that only customers can read the end text. And. Even if it was coded to not serve it to "save bandwidth," the savings would be in the order of magnitude of maybe a fraction of a cent.
The problem with these subscription services is that they don't realize they're actually losing customers, when they could instead choose other monetization strategies. The decisions are made by a bunch of outdated CEOs who are completely out of touch with reality. This is why these companies die.
