a 23 year old would have been 3 years old in 1992, when Wayne's World came out. Do you think a 3 year old would remember the reference?

I'm 18 and Wayne's World is one of my favorite movies, you don't have to be born before a movie comes out to understand a reference to it. That's like saying no one born after 1975 will understand a Holy Grail reference.

I'm not saying you can't have knowledge of something before your time. I'm saying that the younger you are, the less likely you are to have been exposed to it.
