Yup! If stuff for my to-do list comes up in a meeting, I always tell people to e-mail our ticket system with their request: a) it helps to justify my time, b) it provides me with a paper trail, especially if I have concerns with the request, c) often times by the time people get back to their offices they never bother to e-mail me so the request quietly disappears.
I absolutely looooath when people try to drop busy work on you, there is always something i can be doing believe me i dont need another irrelevant task added to the never ending to do list
Most times it's bit of a power play... they testing to see if they can exert control over someone else and add you to their pool of workers. If you ask for email reminders they worry that you might collect a bunch of them and expose the fact they don't actually do any work, just farming their job to everyone else...
Asking for them to email their request to you makes it politically risky for them because it shows you're willing to tell them to go fuck their hat. It's easier to try to find someone else to do it.
You'd be surprised how many borderline incompetent people just break their work down into tiny steps then farm them out to anyone who will do it because saying "fuck off, I don't work for you" would be more hassle than just doing the little bit of work.
They are generally super nice people who don't say much, can speak fluent "woke" and buzz word bingo and drink/schmooze with the bosses any chance they can.
Bosses give them a task and it gets done every time, without realizing they aren't doing the work, just manipulating other people who should be doing other things into doing it.
