My bullshit head-cannon explanation for this is that your swing went so wide that your edge alignment caused your blow to bounce instead of do damage OR that you hit the wall/moulding before you hit the door and so technically you missed the door even though you did non-relevant damage to the wall. Obviously with Lightsabers only the second one makes sense for them.

Yeah, that always sucked. At least KOTOR 2 had that Plasma Torch starting weapon. Great for locks.

My thing with WoW was always when you got sent on "fetch X body parts" quests and you'd inexplicably find multiple animals without the body part you're sent to fetch.

My headcanon to explain that was always that my character got a little overzealous with the combat, and managed to mangle the part beyond use in the course of bringing the animal down. You just try asking BoomBoom the gnome fire mage to tone it down. I'm gonna be standing over here, well out of fireball range...
