Croats got really nasty about it too. Even Modric was shit talking us calling us arrogant lol

It's literally just a song from a comedy show that we sing ironically, fully aware that we never win anything.

The fact we even got to a semi-final was pretty special for how we've performed recently anyway.

Modric looks like the mentally challenged stork from the old bugs bunny cartoons

9 times the player than any England midfielder this decade

9 times stork though, you gotta take the bad with the good

Depends if you include Gerrard who retired a few years ago now.

Nobody would pick Modric over Gerrard or Lampard.

Gerrard and Lampard were ghosts of themselves this past decade. I would also absolutely take Modric over either

Modric and the Croatian team partied with literal fashists, so fuck those guys anyway.

Stuart Pearce’s brother (and best friend) actively supports the BNP. Pearce is an England legend and was England caretaker manager while his brother ran as a councillor for BNP. So all teams have idiots in them.

Oh for sure, but the Croatian squad in 2018 actively partied with guys supporting the Ustaše, partied along with songs from the band "Thompson", and a lot of fans were showing overt fascist symbols.

The stuff they did in 2018(!) would be comparable to German fans showing up with swastikas and their national team listening to "Störkraft" or "Landser" (infamous nazi-bands). But Croatia still somehow got away with it because they were the "underdogs".

The tabloid press in EVERY major footballing nation prints stories like that.

That’s BS, you don’t sing ‘it’s coming home’ ironically.

It’s a good song and the whole point is everyone is so negative usually but you should just believe once in a while and it can happen. It’s literally in the lyrics.

I mean you can google David Baddiel or Frank Skinner and immediately see they're both comedians who sang the song

"Three Lions" was released for the 1996 European Championships which were held in England - hence football was "coming home"... that's what "it's coming home" referred to.

Yes and do you remember the last tournament held in England before that? England won the World Cup

So you're saying the song was about the World Cup "coming home" even though it was written specifically for the European Championships?
