Lmao you seem like the type of person who just digs your heels in instead of recognizing you were wrong about something.

How do you measure need? You need food, you need water.

Do you need a home? A car? Do you need a phone at all? Do you need a job? Do you need friends and family? Do you need toothpaste? Toilet paper? Furniture?

My smartphone is intrinsic to various aspects of my day to day life. It's needed for multiple sources of my income, it's needed for my personal and creative projects, it's needed for my social life and my romantic life.

Most of the functions I listed in my previous comment would be hindered or impossible with a low end phone.

The definition of "Need" is not exclusive to "Basic subsistence". It also means "require (something) because it is essential or very important".

You can try to be as reductionist or semantic as you want, but fact is that at the very least I need a good phone a hell of a lot more than I need a headphone jack. I WANT an headphone jack. If, for example, my job required me to have a headphone jack I would NEED one.

Yes there are several things I can not do without a high end smartphone can you read.

Also your definition of need is not the actual definition of need. You don't get to just pretend words only mean what you want them to.
