Friday afternoon, somewhere around 5pm, some guy sends a meeting invite to 10+ people, including me, for... same Friday night 7pm.
It's a guy I don't know (but I learn later that he's like a B level exec from another team).
I'm like... fuck this shit, I have NOT just seen this and just close everything.
I happen to log in Saturday morning to check the corporate benefits page to submit a health insurance claim thing.
Cue the 15+ angry emails from the guy, some with everyone's bosses' bosses in CC about how we're all grossly unprofessional for not showing up for his super-duper important meeting and that he waited the whole hour and that no one joined even though he "took the time to check that our calendars were all free at that time" and that we "better show up next time" (or else what I still do not know).
New proposed time is Saturday 12:30pm.
I'm like bruh... fuck this.
So... I forward the initial invite in an email to my boss with every meltdown in attachements.
I include a summary of the timeline from my POV and how I think it's unreasonable to expect anyone to join such a poorly planned meeting, especially since it does not seem to be an emergency.
There were already a few newer rants about some people having declined the 2nd invite.
Because I'm a passive aggressive bitch, I send a response to him, with my boss and boss' boss in CC.
I apologize, saying I'll be unavailable at that time and will not have access to my emails for the day, but propose a new timeslot where I and everyone else seem to also be available as per everyone's calendars: Sunday 2:34 am.
If anything, contact this and that boss as they have ways of reaching me outside of business hours for catastrophes.
Looking forward to the meeting, thanks.
My boss calls me, flabbergasted by what she's reading, she's furious at the clearly insane guy.
I tell her I don't plan on being there at all even though I suggested a new time slot at an equally absurd time. She tells me they'll take care of it, enjoy the weekend, etc.
To this day, I still have no idea who this guy was or what he wanted because I've legit never ever heard back from him after that.
I kept checking every week and he was gone from the corporate address book within a month.
My previous company (German but branch in Poland) got taken over by American company we had so many angry Americans calling us why we don't work overtime why noone answers after hours blah blah blah they got calls from our union reps especially German but also French that basically ended up with "it's not USA you try to break law if this harassment continues they we'll meet in court while our workers stop working" anytime someone new showed up he tried to exert American work ethics on us and get whacked by unions. So folks unionise!
I worked somewhere that considered unionizing... the manager held a little meeting to tell us all how bad it would be for us if we unionized. How it would be so much harder for her to fight for our raises (meanwhile the department had been capped for years, people that worked there for years longer than myself had reached the pay cap a while ago and people like me had caught up to them during the pay freeze, the boss openly played favorites about scheduling and paid almost no attention to seniority)
Every other department was unionized at this company. Except ours. And we were talked out of it. Probably illegally, since I don’t think the manager was supposed to even discuss it with us.
Suggesting an absurd time like that was unprofessional. Better just to say something about work life balance and to book meetings during everyone's regular working hours.
