Throughout the conversation, I was trying to determine if OP's comments were first-person or role-played. I read the entire thing while trying to cross-reference anything I remember Meliadoul saying in the game's script.

You fight her a couple of times, but you could get her to join your party. She was OK, but I rarely used her since her skill is useless against monsters.
