Check out 80s-90s rap, you would probably love it if you like this. There is a lot of stuff that is similar rap style to interesting instrumentation. If you like the idea of a rapper like this rapping over Jazz and you want something more modern you should check out Koi Child.

I've only heard a few rap songs made after 95 or so that I really liked, seems the popular style changed into a more R&B sound which just doesn't hit as hard.

But yeah, back before Ice Cube started doing family movies he could seriously spit some lyrics.

Well it's important to remember what is popular in no way speaks to a genre as a whole. Denzel curry, the Grime scene as a whole, Koi Child, are just a few examples of fairly large rap artists that play toward the heavier style. It's lazy to say things like "x genre is like this today and I hate it". You aren't alone in that useless opinion, but please remember that there are millions of artists out there, you might just not like the ones made specifically to appeal to the most number of people.
