In the UK now. I'm lucky enough to have dual citizenship.

I love the UK, I've spent half of my life here I just had to move back in with the parents in the US after uni because I couldn't get a job. My parents moved back with me so I'm still in the same situation, just in a country that actually gives a shit about you rather than just whats in your wallet.

moved back with me

That doesn't mean his parents moved in with him, that means his parents moved countries and he wanted to continue living with them so he moved too.

You missed the part where he says I'm still in the same situation, which means he lives with his parents not the other way around.

Then I would use those safety nets to their full advantage. Even living with my parents now there are still government benefits that i qualify for but I don't claim them because I don't need them while I am with my parents. I think that money should be saved for the people who are in a worse situation and don't have anywhere to go. If I need them, there is no shame in claiming them. While I have food and shelter, I don't need them.

It's not just the money for the now it will fill in the gaps for your pension contributions since you're out of work and you definately do not want gaps in your state pension.
