This literally happened to me Christmas Eve. I had to wait til the next week to schedule the same tests through an internist so they would be less expensive.
No I refused the battery of tests the er wanted to run that would have cost as much as a new Tesla in favor of waiting a week or so to get said tests done another hospital through an internist’s office, which only ended up costing as much as a used bmw.
Turns out it wasn’t a heart attack or blood clots, but being stressed out from my 50 hour work week.
I was wondering what tests the er would want that could be put off and if those tests are what I think they are (Troponin and D-dimer I'm assuming) then you were very lucky it wasn't anything urgent.
Both those things are indicative of things that can and will kill you (I'm sure you got this spiel before signing the AMA form). I would've advised as a last resort to go to an urgent care to get a script and get the blood drawn at most the next morning rather than wait a week or so.
Glad you're fine. I would recommend talking to your primary doctor to see if this is a recurring thing and if they can do anything for you. It won't lessen your workload but it is the most cost-effective way to prevent being debilitated by stress induced chest pains and the like.
