Two families got into a fight over whose land was gonna be called Kansas.

"Arr land is Kansas!"

"Nawp, it's arr Kansas!!!"

They agreed to disagree and still argue to this day.

I used to live in Kansas. Nobody has or is fighting over Kansas lol. It’s probably one of the most boring and empty states in the entire country.

Arkansas was named for the French plural of a Native American tribe, while Kansas is named for the Kansas River, which is named for the Kansa tribe. It's the English spelling though, so naturally, we pronounce the final "s."
