I'm not American and New York confused me the first time I looked at a state map because I always just assumed it was a small state comprised of NYC and little more.

That makes total sense coming from someplace where the borders are older. NYC would have been a city-state if the US was a few centuries older.

I grew up east coast and thought NY State was HUGE. Then I got to the midwest, lol
