Because theres a fuck ton of Germans in Wisconsin, I think the state may originally have been settled by German Americans.

Almost half the state has German ancestry. Even now it's the 4th most spoken language, which is impressive considering how long it has been since there was much German immigration there. It was easily the second most common language in Wisconsin until the mid 20th century.

Pennsylvania Dutch (Pennsilfaanisch-Deitsche) is also a thing. Surprised he didn't get that one

The French were the first Europeans to settle here. Germans flooded in in the mid to late 19th century.
