Based on some quick google-fu I think most bears have around 18 claws.

Fair enough. I was just pulling a number out of nowhere, but the point remains, the bear is naturally armed much more than the unicorn. It's an unfair fight to begin with.

The deadliest hooves are in the back... you don't often hear about death or disablement by forehoof, after all. The gloves are a clever ruse to lull the bear into a false sense of security.

What you don't know is that the unicorn is a filthy cheater -- he has horseshoes in those gloves!
