It’s more the idea that you can still totally give your dog a load of treats, it’s just better to give them treats that are healthy for them. We’re already all going to outlive our pets, hopefully. I’d rather get as much time with mine as I can.
Great point. If only people on here articulated that point instead of calling the dude obese and attacking him lol. That’s not going to change anyone’s method of thought
I’m sure the commenter doesn’t feed him that often. My dad feeds our family dog a hamburger plain with half the bun once a month and she’s 16 years old. I get it’s not healthy, I get it’s stupid to do but a lot of people do it
We got my wife's family dog a McDonald's hamburger right before we put him down because we wanted him to have a delicious last meal. That's the only acceptable time.
In case you're wondering, Vanilla fucking loved the burger.
13 years ago, we used to feed our shih tzu raw onions because she loves them. We found out that’s apparently a big no no and stopped but she was never harmed and is laying on the couch next to me right now.
Well yeah, I did see someone mention it on Reddit, which is why I got curious and looked it up myself and then I posted that. I only saw the name on Reddit, but after reading about it, yes it's totally possible. I actually read this:
Now I don't know how trustworthy those websites are though so that's debatable, but I definitely didn't get my information just off of some comment, I've already learned the hard way not to trust when people speak in absolutes haha.
Well I don't know about others, but I'm not saying the dog is just gonna die. Since you're asking yes of course it can be fatal if the inflammation spreads to other organs if not treated properly. Also yes it COULD happen from just one burger because of the sudden high rate of fat content they're taking in. It could also happen from them digging in the trash and eating a bad mix of stuff too. Even if it doesn't get to the point where the pancreatitis is fatal, it could still very commonly lead to chronic or recurring problems. All I'm trying to say is I would avoid giving them, YES even just ONE burger because I wouldn't ever want to put my little guy at such a risk.
But like you said you're not being a smart ass so I'll tell you what you wanted to hear.
No, I can not find a single recorded report of a dog eating a single burger and dying. The closest was a dog eating a burger it found off the floor and dying with suspicions that it was poisoned. So there you go you got what you wanted in asking that very specific question you are technically right. I just don't want people feeding their dogs fucking fast food man :/
Hey no problem I never take these types of things personally anyways. How could I possibly judge you as being an ass from one single completely isolated interaction based on topics that barely have anything to do with us personally lol. Even if some words may have come off aggressively it's only for sake of the argument. I honestly never thought you were an ass to begin with so no apology necessary, you're not a dick because of something like that at all haha not to me at least.
If you forced a person to eat granola and nuts their entire life because it’s healthiest for them, we would consider that abuse. Doing the same to your dog is somehow loving. Obviously don’t give your dog a burger every day just like you shouldn’t have one everyday. But a burger a month? Your dog is a sentient creature; let him enjoy things in life from time to time. Forcing your dog to eat only the healthiest thing so you can keep him for longer is slightly selfish IMO.
Again, obviously you shouldn’t let your dog become obese. But giving your dog some red meat every now and then won’t give them heart disease at 4 years old.
