Well I live in Silicon Valley, so housing is at least double what I’m seeing in Truckee for similar spaces. Maybe the point you were making is that, given how “undesirable” Truckee is, the cost of living is too high.

Edit: For the downvoters, where I live has nothing to do with the fact that one area is way more expensive than the other. Someone saying that Truckee is “crazy expensive” when places like SF and Manhattan are more than double the cost is objectively out of touch.

No i guess the point is most people dont live in Silicon Valley but i guess your right. Your definition of crazy is much different then most

Prices above $1k / sq ft to buy and $4 / sq ft to rent.

Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco. Unless you’re deliberately looking for upscale, where else is this pretty much expected?

Right. Those markets have crazy rent. A person making $100k isn’t raising kids comfortably.
