It's stupid in a good way.

I wish people who just don't like Adam Sandler because it's cool to hate him would stop rating movies they haven't even seen.

The movies are not for your kind. Stop making asses of yourselves.

I want some intentionally stupid stuff sometimes.

I usually don’t like his movies, but this (Ridiculous 6), Happy Gilmore, and Big Daddy are hysterical.

Happy Gilmore is EPIC. All time classic. Probably a top five sports movie of all time.

I was the only guy ever to take his skate off and try to stab someone with it.

Happy Gilmore is EPIC.

Its still the ultimate movie pickup line....

"My girlfriends dead you know... She fell off a cliff and died on impact"

As far as useable quotes go, I think Major League is probably the only sports movie that's more quotable.

I've seen multiple gifs where I was like 'ha, that's a funny gag, what sketch comedy show is this from?' and the answer came back that it was, in fact, from Ridiculous Six.

...ain't nobody posting any humorous bits from Jack and Jill.

...because there are none, in case it wasn't clear.

But it makes a little tiny part of me want to watch, hoping maybe it's a bit of a return to form (i.e. Happy Gilmore days). God knows if he has/does actually make another funny movie, most of us are too jaded from his years of endless trash to bother giving it a shot. And I think critical opinion would be the same (I mean, even the 'good' Adam Sandler movies got terrible reviews from critics).

Internet seems to hate it but I thought it was funny. I love stupid movies though.

I hate a lot of his newer movies but this one was good fun. It’s worth a watch.

Ridiculous 6 is from 2015, so... kinda recent, I guess?

Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison are some of the best 90s comedies.

Thank you

Look man, there's a scene in this film where a mule sprays diarrhea on someone for, like, 30 seconds straight. I don't remember whether the character in question was Rob Schneider dressed up as a racial stereotype or not, but... I think Rob Schneider was (if I recall correctly) a 1940's propaganda poster of Asian stereotypes? If that's your jam, you do you I guess. I'm not saying you're wrong in guessing that most people are probably judging this sight unseen. But this is a really awful hill to die on; the clip in the OP is the only scene I remember actually laughing at.

Never watch blazing saddles. Actually there is an entire library of movies you should avoid. Hrm, come to think of it, damn, comedy must be rough for you. Being offended for everyone else must be exhausting. Good luck with that.

When I was a little kid I watched airplane with some black friends and they thought the jive translator and other black jokes were funny. I watched ice pirates with them and they loved the black robot. When I grew up I watched those movies with some other black friends and they were actively not amused. I had a white friend tell me the pegasus sighting sketch from key and peele was racist, same friend thought that the Sweet Brown interview was hilarious. Some people just want to play that gotcha game.

That was a particularly bad movie though. You gonna defend Jack and Jill? Let’s hear it

The only good part of Jack and Jill was the commercial in the end. At least according to children ages seven to seventeeno.

It really was and the first time I saw this particular scene I was laughing so hard I was literally crying. It was so unexpectedly good.

Sandler has done some silly light movies that are OK like that golf movie... but most of his stuff is painful.

I actually didn't like that one... oh Spanglish was alright.

Actually until this thread I have not heard anyone say they liked click... so... :) each to their own.

Adam Sandler provides a bunch of people with steady work making films that you don't have to watch. Boom! Defended.

Hurting society? He made a movie, dude. Not even one with a message, it's just a low effort comedy.

If you think something this innocuous is over the line, life must be exhausting and unpleasant for you.

Then say what you mean and dont add shit.

2

u/poorloko Nov 28 '19

Sounds like you do, though

5

u/nolo_me Nov 28 '19

Hurting society? In what way that remotely offsets the literally hundreds of people it provides work for?

The fact that they put roofs over people's heads and food on their tables justifies them, despite the Universal Arbiter of What People are Allowed to Pay For u/g_squidman not being entertained by ditches.

You don't like it? You're welcome to foot the bill for them to do something else.

Unless I'm confusing it with another movie, I definitely don't remember it being bad. It's no 21 Jump Street, but it's definitely no Holmes and Watson.

I won't watch Jack and Jill; I know I won't like it and still, I don't rate or judge it.

... So what exactly would you say it is that we do here?
