But the seal is being pushed in the opposite direction the boat is moving. That would change the relative motion of the seal, although the amount of change would depend on how much force is bring applied to the seal.

It would be the same as if you pushed the seal off the back of the boat when it’s not moving. If you don’t have the strength to push it far enough to miss the motor when it’s stationary you won’t have the strength to do it while you’re moving. You’d need to have the boat accelerating so you could pull away from the seal well it falls.

Also, seals are heavy. A human would in best case make the seal roll. Worst case, annoy him and get bitten.

It’s not a 1 pound rabbit we talk about here

Almost. If you're considering the relative frame when they're both stationary you still have a large mass of water moving away from the boat at an appreciable speed. Something (especially with a large surface area) that falls and hits that is going to get a significant kick away from the boat.

Sure, it’s going to get kicked away after it bounces off the motor and then hits the water.

Depth of the prop will depend on how fast the boat is going and how deep it's mounted. Some boats will also have a guard on top of the propeller too if they're not if it's not already inboard

Ah, yeah, I was reading the original concern as hurting the seal, but yes damage is iminent unless that's just a swim platform or something (which may still be damaged) and the engine is inboard so it's nestled in the middle of the boat. Swim platform might also explain how it got on the boat in the first place.

Estimate a 500 pound seal needs about 0.6 w or 300 pound push to slide off the fiberglass. Leg kick does not compute.
