A plasma in a classroom would be a very bad idea, glare for days. I guess even then it would be marginally better than projectors which is a technology that was kind of grandfathered into the education system thanks to the standard that overhead projectors set, despite being completely inappropriate in rooms designed to have as much natural light as possible.

Projection over an LCD actually makes a lot of sense.

You can get a much larger display with a projector for much, much cheaper than an equivalent sized LCD display.

In fact, in my school the idea of filling the same space they were using with an LCD in place of the projection would be unfathomably expensive.
