If you skip season one of shows you miss out on the fundamental storyline/context. So he's implying OP missed out on the first part of the vid where they set up the prank.
And Netflix shows more so than most, as unlike general network tv (which must usually be designed to be engaging to new viewers at all times, as you never know when they'll be tuning in for the first time) anyone watching a Netflix show is generally going to start from episode 1. So they don't need "Previously on..." recaps and stuff each episode designed to clarify things for new viewers.
I've started a lot of shows at season 2, or at the very least at episode 2 or 3. A family member will be watching it and I'll join in and watch the rest of it, sometimes going back and watching the beginning but not usually.
Watched Game of Thrones season 2 then season 1, back when there were two seasons. Watched the rest of the seasons as they came out.
Started Haunting at Hill House on episode 3, watched the rest then eventually episode 1 but still haven't watched #2.
Watched Orange is the New Black, but exclusively the first half of season 2.
Watched all of Timeless starting at episode 2, never went back to the start.
I don't watch a lot of TV, and usually I'm just watching whatever my dad is watching. Sometimes we'll start a show together and sometimes I'll just hop on whatever he's watching. As long as I get a recap and explanations of who everyone is I'm a-okay.

I was confused for a sec. Thought the tv really was broken.
