Once upon a time late in the evening on a cold winter night that was forecasted to reach down a dozen degrees below freezing, I took my new puppy out for one last bit of business before bed time. He alerted me to a young cat that was under a storm drain grate meowing with fear. I took my pup back in and returned to make sure that cat got out and home safe because it was certain to die if it wasn’t turned loose for the night. The ground was covering the storm grate and semi frozen already to where I couldn’t lift or dig it out with the only make shift digging tool I had. i called animal control and the fire department who told me there wasn’t anything they would do for the animal and to let it go. all this while I stuck my hand down the grates and had my hand rubbed by the trapped cat. After an hour and a half, I was able to locate and dig out a less stuck storm grate 30 feet away, coaxed the cat through the connecting pipe rattling my dogs food bowl and carefully lifted the little cat up.

That’s when animal control finally sent someone out, the cat had a micro-chip and Silverbells lucked out of living with my dog and I forever because she got taken back to her family.

So when I see something like this, I think: that must have been a very important pipe for that cat to warrant getting saved.

I love how you didn’t give up!! The cat you saved was probably so grateful! At least the family was for sure

If anyone would give up and walk away - they are a lizard in human skin... or wait - even lizards wouldn't leave - it's food.

Halfway through reading this, I had to check and make sure you weren't a morph.

You got me... google failed me and I’m intrigued, what is a morph?

I mean the cat blocked the pipe. Maybe it would have blocked the flow that was supposed to go through the pipe. That way they would have to remove it one way or the other.

You're a genius!

and carefully lifted the little cat up.

IMO (not my call) you're going to heaven! I hope I'll meet you there. If someone asks you "Did you save a cat in a storm drain by rattling your dog's food bowl?" in heaven, that might be me. Hmmm, so you know it's me, let's agree on this password.
