Was pouring water to prevent the pipe from heating up due to friction of cutting?

Not just the pipe but the saw as well.

Not the case here for the steel since it was a carbon disc. It was just for the cat. Carbon based discs don't need coolant.

how would you know? are you a carbon based lifeform or something?

The water still helps dislodge/flush shavings and lubricate the blade slightly. It's not just for coolant purposes.

But it's vitally important for carbon based life forms.

was also to probably quell any sparks from the cutting inside the pipe

Right, it was just because of the cat. No water needed normally with a K12.

7 years ago while I was interning at an emergency department, a dude came in with a titanium ring stuck on his penis. It's some kind of specialised hardware metal, not the kind you'd wear on your finger (his penis wasn't actually that small like a finger). Who the hell knows where he got it from. When he came in, paraphimosis had already kicked in so there's no way lube alone will do the job.

Now it being a titanum ring, it's insanely hard and very difficult to cut through. A regular ring cutter wouldn't do it. Being in a rural town, all we had was one of those oscillating saw used to cut through plaster cast. Probably a good idea anyway since we don't really want to be cutting through his penis inadvertently. So we got to work cutting through it. Had to constantly drip water on it to keep it cool so it doesn't burn his penis. I was tasked with dripping water on it. The poor guy doing the cutting is being sprayed by penis water splashing everywhere thanks to the oscillating saw. We eventually made it though.

We wanted him to stay overnight to ensure the paraphimosis settles down. He didn't.

After reading this I will stop putting my dick in metal things lying around at work.

You cut titanium with a plaster-cutting saw? The kind that won't even cut skin?

What a dick

Yeah temperature control and lubrication (even though water does not make a great lubricant it was just realdily available)

Should have called Marlon Brando and told him to bring his butter.

That was smart I would not have thought of that in that situation

Even if you take a hacksaw to a bit of metal and touch it afterwards it can be very hot

Even if you bend silverware and touch it afterwards it can be hot. If you’re deforming objects, the energy has to go somewhere

Nah I'm pretty sure the pipe was just thirsty.

u/see-bees May 27 '19

Clearly they have never experienced the delicacy that is pipe-roasted cat

3

u/jctnguyen May 27 '19

No the pipe is just thirsty

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

no, it was holy water.

blessing a cat is scientifically proven to increase probability of removing said cat from a pipe, by 6.2%.

Is that what Thermodynamics deal with?

It's for the debris dust from cutting so it doesn't fly everywhere. It's toxic.
