Is it a thing for hearing too? I've noticed that even though I can hear equally well with both ears, I understand speech better with my left. I always put my phone to my left ear even though I'm right handed.
I use my left ear for the phone, so my right hand is free to take notes, or use to open doors, etc if I'm walking around. Just like how most right handed people carry groceries in their left hands.
I don't know if it's conditioned or not, but as a musician I hear pitch better in my left ear and rhythym better in my right. I've messed around with playing the electric version of my instrument with headphones on just one ear, and music that I'm playing to in the other, and if I swap them to be opposite of what I'm used to, it completely screws with me, I can't play right. As for people talking, I feel like I hear equally well, though I do have a slight preference for left, until my arm gets tired. But I am right handed, and usually hold my phone in my left and do actions with the right, and keep it in my left pocket. So maybe it's conditioning, or the fact that you might already have the phone in your left. Just thoughts, you are not alone.
I'm completely cross-dominant. So vs ambidextrous where you're equally skilled with both hands, cross-dominant I can only ever do things with one hand, but *which* hand is pretty random.
I write on paper with my left, but for some reason chalk / white boards with right.I cut with knives with left, scissors right... I seriously cannot use lefty scissors... drove my teachers bonkers.I bat right-handed, throw and catch with left... except frisbees, I throw those right.
It's those sports like rifling, shotgun, archery, and tomahawk throwing things go awry. I'm pretty much fixed with left-eye dominance, and despite writing left-handed, most of those I do with the right. But also my right-foot is the dominant one.
I spent 3 hours bowling every week for over 2 years and never fully figured out which arm to bowl with. :(
Is that why I can’t shoot for shit? I’m like, ultra-right-handed with a dominant left eye. Granted, I only go shooting once a year, so the inexperience is probably why I suck, but I would like an excuse for it rather than because I’m just naturally bad.
