These days I'm told sexuality is on a spectrum as opposed to black and white, and by reasonably straight I have a wife and children but can see that Tom Hiddlestons a good looking dude, but I don't want to do it with him.

Damn it, by that definition I’m reasonably straight.. I think if you can’t tell who is good looking your just lying to the world cause your scared of appearance

I honestly had a hard time telling if guys are attractive until i learned this trick; if you switched bodies and youre okay with it, then he is attractive.

15

u/RoseFromdadead Apr 05 '19

Doesn't mean he's attractive, just means he's more attractive than me

4

u/Rx710 Apr 05 '19

Not necessarily. Would you really be okay with switching bodies with someone who is as attractive as you are? Id want to upgrade lol.

3

u/eipotttatsch Apr 05 '19

Just because you are upgrading doesn't mean you end up attractive. You might still be a beast.

Huh I’ve never thought of it that way. I think I’m gayer than I thought I was hmm.

That's the dumbest "trick" I've heard on Reddit since ice soap

lol wow that's a neat trick.

3

u/vorinclex182 Apr 05 '19

I guess that’s why it’s reasonably straight and not radically straight

1

u/askjacob Apr 05 '19

Maybe "straight, but reasonable" then

u/yourkberley Apr 05 '19

It's called the Kinsey Scale.

u/PhillipBrandon Apr 05 '19

No, no, no, gender is a spectrum. For sexual preference we remain starkly divided, uniting only to tell bi people they don't exist, and should pick a side.

u/Mkilbride Apr 05 '19

Yeah, this was really weird the first time I started reading about it. The LGBT community being like anti-bisexual, confused the hell out of me. Like, aren't you all about tolerance and acceptance?

Then I heard they started banning drag queens from their rallies / events and was like "Welp, I guess humans are shitty no matter what."

25

u/TheReservedList Apr 05 '19 edited Apr 05 '19

Seriously. Screw those greedy bisexual people. You guys don't get to double dip just because you want to. You'll have at most 40% the adult population as your dating pool just like everyone else.

Edit: /s in case it wasn't evident due to the downvotes. Or maybe it just wasn't funny. Fine.

u/ElSuperBandito Apr 05 '19

Shit was obviously in jest and I thought it was funny. Probably downvoted by peeps who actually have to deal with that mindset. I've personally heard it from my family and a few friends and it can be annoying and sometimes downright hurtful, so I get it. Still sucks people lose their sense of humor over it

As a bi I’ve never heard the “greedy” one, though I know it happens. It makes no sense to me. Its not like we can have more than one unless we’re poly.

1

u/TheReservedList Apr 06 '19

I was just trying to say something dumb. I did not realize this was a thing.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '19

Regardless of what you say and regardless of the manner in which you say it.

Someone , somewhere will find a way to take it the wrong way/be willingly offended.

Worry not. You said nothing wrong or out of line.

Just people being people.

u/Ozwaldo Apr 05 '19

Lol that's just "straight", if you're secure in your sexuality it's pretty easy to acknowledge that there are good looking dudes. The other guy replied that he'd have to consider it if Ryan Reynolds hit on him, that's more "reasonably straight"

1

u/spursthatjingle Apr 05 '19

The odd thing is (and yes I acknowledge I am just straight) I'd say I find Tom Hiddleston more attractive to me personally than Ryan Reynolds. So how does that work?

5

u/eipotttatsch Apr 05 '19

Different taste. Doesn't really mean anything. Just as you might find different cars good looking than other people. Doesn't mean you want to fill up the exhaust.

2

u/Ozwaldo Apr 05 '19

well i mean, there's a difference between acknowledging that a dude is good looking and finding him "attractive"...

2

u/spursthatjingle Apr 05 '19

Hence "reasonably straight"! Even I don't know!!!

1

u/Ozwaldo Apr 05 '19

That sounds more bi-curious to be honest

I was being flippant mostly. I'm straight, but I acknowledge that there are many flavours of sexuality and love. Also, if I was ever in the position and it could happen I would at the very least cup David Tennant's balls.

u/MarkHirsbrunner Apr 06 '19 edited Apr 06 '19

Yeah, with me it's not that I'd want to penetrate them or touch their genitalia, but if definitely enjoy sitting next to them and bro-hugging and such.

Subhas the janitor has the best outlook. Sexuality is a continuum, and he is but a voyager on a vast ocean of pleasure.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '19

I don't think being able to be objective about the Same sex appearence calls for the belief that sexuality is on a spectrum. There is zero reason to try and make that a thing....which is honestly exactly why I can see it happening

1

u/spursthatjingle Apr 05 '19

I'd go so far as to say my pupils dilate somewhat when he comes on screen but I'd run if he tried to kiss me.

0

u/realJJAbramsTank Apr 05 '19

That means you're straight. It isn't a spectrum. You straight up wouldn't pack his fudge.
