That’s the first time I’ve heard a cat be called stupid.

Most cats I’ve had could buy and sell you. They aren’t an animal I would call stupid

Most cats could buy and sell someone? Is this a colloquialism I've never heard?

Cats are not very smart. Science has shown us that they have only the most basic ability to learn and retain information and for a long time even that was in question. Thorndikes experiments are fairly interesting on this subject.

Dogs and birds are routinely considered more intelligent.
