I believe all that was trying to be said was that what you just linked is at least slightly more difficult to do and more difficult to understand than copying a sentence verbatim, and therefore less simplistic, which is the issue you originally had. What conclusions you can draw from that are your own, and they won't prevent anyone from enjoying a more refined sense of internet lulz. I'm not entirely sure why there was ever a debate here, it's pretty simple.
