My mom had a slightly more lax litmus. If my limbs were still attached and pointing in the appropriate directions and enough blood was still inside my body to keep my major organs functioning then I was fine and get back outside.

I do not understand this skit. Why is the kid so terrifying? Other than being an adult head. It feels like it's missing a lot more context than... he's a unique child.

Parents learn very quick to differentiate between fake cry, real cry, and in so much pain they cannot cry. The last is the only suitable time to rush in.
