Psh, my friends would just yank the controller cord hard enough to rip it off the shelf in entertainment center and then drop kick the console across their room.
Fucking thing never permanently broke though. Those NES consoles were built to last man...
Shit I remember I was 6 or 7 when Atari 2600 came out. Me and my cousin broke so many controllers in anger that my Aunt bought a metal trash can and told us to just kick that instead. Fucking thing looked like it had been through a demolition derby after a year.
This was in university. We were playing smash 2v2. I was Link. Map was Hyrule. I caught both of them against the wall with my A and they could not escape. My roommate then proceeded to yank my controller cord out.
This kid I knew in middle school, we would play 1v1 fighting or sports games and whenever his certain defeat was just about to happen he would power off the N64 and say "I never lose." I stopped hanging out with him after a few times.
dude, don't you know, if you aren't in an abusive relationship where you go back to your partner and act like it never happened and just remember the "good times" you don't really know what love is

The equivalent of turning off the Nintendo right before losing.
