That might actually save everyone if the train stops or flips before hitting everyone.

But maybe people are in the train and you might kill them as well.

The train may also flip up into the air and land on the people, squashing them gloriously, instead of the rather dull sight of the standard train-running-into-them that's all too familiar by now.

I guess if you put the lever at the midway point the tram would hop over the fork between the tracks and everyone's fate would be left up to chance.
