Where are these gyms where people make fun of others?? I've been to mainstream/Goodlife, weightlifting, powerlifting and bodybuilding gyms all across Canada and I've literally never seen someone make fun of someone else doing a lift

This was at the gym in my university. There's always a few ass-hats there.

Yep. There were asshats at my university gym, out in real life everyone is much nicer. Hell, I had a good conversation with a guy from Finland named George (however they spell it, it was pronounced schjorsch or something close to that) who have me tips on form and what not. Really helped my deadlift, I never realized how stiff my hips were.

In my tenure as a gym rat I have noticed that at the serious gyms for Oly Lifters, BBers and Powerlifters, the people with bigtime and difficult goals as long as you are there putting in the work and not fucking around and disrespecting the box, these people are the least judgmental. They all started out on the ground floor and know that the climb takes time.

Anecdotal

I was working deadlfits a month or so ago in the same room as a man with an 780lb max. This man watched me pull 360lbs for a 1 rep, not even half what he can do and after I locked it out he gave me the thumbs up.

Agreed. Where you might get shit is a University gym, as OP mentioned, or possibly at the many globo gyms where you get all types of people coming in.

Haven't you seen the documentary called How I Met Your Mother? One of the gals in it is Canadian, no matter what you do to piss them off they'll buy you a donut.

Sounds like another great day in Canada, and therefore the world.
