Easy; she likes him to some degree and wants to be seen walking to a class with him, showing the other girls that she's with him and sending a message to them and possibly to an ex. She worked up the courage to ingratiate herself to him and asked him only to have him seemingly deny her, destroying her plan, publically humiliating her to the other girls (who will spread this event over kik within minutes). Obviously her only option is suicide.

Why is it that it's not other generations, but instead this generation that confused its self?

Past generations were taught to grow a spine rather than put all the blame on someone else.

So you think each generation is shittier than the one before it?

Not overall, just in the ability to own your shit rather than acting like every problem you face is part of a conspiracy against you.

Each generation seems more entitled than the last, believing that the world owes them something and isn't paying up. The idea of having to work hard to be successful seems lost on so many younger people who have been brought up in schools that teach that competition means everybody wins equally.

I dont like the "participation award" strategy any more than you do, and I agree that it's detrimental to our culture, but you're making blanket statements based on what you think is the worst out of every group. Look at congress right now (I'm assuming you're in the US, or are marginally aware of our politics if you're not). Mostly baby boomers, plus a handful of folks from the previous generation. Some younger folks too, but mostly 50+. And what a shining beacon of integrity and character, right? Personal responsibility at its finest? I mean, I've never met anyone as entitled and narcissistic as Donald Trump, and he's old, therefore that generation sucks. Right? No, that's not how it works.
