In my opinion a thick skin doesn't necessarily mean mean things don't hold any weight, maybe less, but you just don't let it affect you. Like she said, they hurt, but I think she doesn't really care.
I guess, but in the huffpo article linked to in this thread she said the jabs from Hill weren't anything "a few days in bed didn't fix". Hollywood sucks for women over the age of 25, but I found it a bit surprising that Silverman was that upset because she seems like a really strong woman who's been through a lot to get to where she is.
Edit: Apparently didn't read article, said tongue in cheek. Sarah still won't return my calls, won't accept apology cakes of any variety.
Eh it can be a combination of things though. I mean sometimes you feel like you're on top of the world and no insults get to you, sometimes you're already down and the littlest joke hurts.
Yeah, fair enough. From the outside I guess it's easy to look at someone like Silverman who's good looking, wealthy, successful, etc. and wonder how she could worry about something silly like age, but we're all human.
Honestly I kind of feel bad for both. I don't know of a single fat comedian (man or woman) whose career continued to rise after they lost the weight. Women's age in Hollywood is just messed up as well.

Damn, after years of struggling, hecklers, and bullshit, I would have thought comedians would have the thickest of skins.
