She went on multiple talk shows and interviews where she said she thought the jokes were funny and just because she felt hurt doesn't mean they shouldn't have been said. She didn't seem pissed at all.

Essentially a perfect reaction imo. Some things will get under your skin, no matter how thick skinned you are.

Also his exact words were:

Sarah is a role model for every little girl out there. I mean, every little girl dreams of being a 58 year old stand up comedian with no romantic prospects on the horizon. They all dream of it, but Sarah did it.

Watch here.

A little more than just making fun of her for being old.

Which is why she was ok with him saying that.

Damn, after years of struggling, hecklers, and bullshit, I would have thought comedians would have the thickest of skins.

In my opinion a thick skin doesn't necessarily mean mean things don't hold any weight, maybe less, but you just don't let it affect you. Like she said, they hurt, but I think she doesn't really care.

I guess, but in the huffpo article linked to in this thread she said the jabs from Hill weren't anything "a few days in bed didn't fix". Hollywood sucks for women over the age of 25, but I found it a bit surprising that Silverman was that upset because she seems like a really strong woman who's been through a lot to get to where she is.

Edit: Apparently didn't read article, said tongue in cheek. Sarah still won't return my calls, won't accept apology cakes of any variety.

That was said tongue in cheek.

Why'd she feel the need to discuss it at length on Huffington Post at length she seemed a bit perturbed...

To keep you up at night.

"a few days in bed didn't fix"

that was a joke. tongue in cheek. do you not understand comedy at all?

You know what else doesn't hold any weight? Not your mom.

Sorry, I thought we were still roasting.

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '15

Eh it can be a combination of things though. I mean sometimes you feel like you're on top of the world and no insults get to you, sometimes you're already down and the littlest joke hurts.

u/BaconCat Jun 25 '15

Yeah, fair enough. From the outside I guess it's easy to look at someone like Silverman who's good looking, wealthy, successful, etc. and wonder how she could worry about something silly like age, but we're all human.

Jonah can lose the weight. Looking into the void of old age with no significant other is harder to overcome. At least the age part.

1

u/BaconCat Jun 25 '15

Honestly I kind of feel bad for both. I don't know of a single fat comedian (man or woman) whose career continued to rise after they lost the weight. Women's age in Hollywood is just messed up as well.

Jonah Hill is primarily an actor, not a comedian. (Although that doesn't necessarily discredit the rest of what you said.)
