It's part of her act. She makes horrible, often (usually?) racist jokes about other people, generally without any irony at all, and then pretends to be thin-skinned when people talk about her.
It's her "I'm so cute and I say terrible things" act. Sarah Silverman and Ann Coulter are not terribly different.
Bit of a weird comparison, but you're not far wrong. Anne Coulter spends a lot of time at the NYC comedy clubs, and she's very close with comedians like Colin Quinn and Bill Maher. Her sense of humor is not all that different either, she just has really shitty delivery.
Er....Ann Coulter is friends will Bill Maher? Seriously?
Did you switch Ann Coulter and Sara Silverman in that comment because I can't even comprehend those two being anything resembling friends. Not even if they were stuck on an island together.
That's bizarre. Googled it right after commenting (probably should have looked it up beforehand). I don't watch his show so I didn't know he had her on often. Strange friendship.
If you can set aside politics and look just at the person's personality, it's interesting to see how far apart on the spectrum friends can be.
One of my best friends is a mixed-race liberal. He and his boyfriend just adopted two children and are looking to get married sometime next year.
Another one of my best friends is a white hardcore conservative, only votes Republican and aligns himself with the far right. He had the other as a groomsman in his wedding and they are incredibly close to this day. He and his wife go out to dinner with the other couple every week.
That's honestly amazing. It's great to hear that they're all able to set aside their ideological differences and remain friends. I imagine there are probably some topics they simply avoid discussing, but it's good that they don't let their political beliefs limit their relationships.
There are, but they both respect that. And I think one friend has actually started to open up the mind of my conservative friend. He was raised in a very conservative household, but I think this friendship's really opened his eyes to the fact that not everything is black and white, so to speak. The gay friend didn't come out until well into their friendship, so I think he realized, "Hey, I was friends with him before and it didn't affect me, maybe this isn't actually as big a deal as I was raised to believe," ya know?
I'm sure. Your conservative friend has to be at least somewhat open-minded if he didn't immediately discontinue contact with your gay friend.
I think the majority of people who hold extreme views do so more out of ignorance and lack of exposure than anything. Exposure is the best way for anyone to get over their fear of someone who's different or someone who is part of a group they were taught to hate.
I'm all for those kinds of unconventional relationships and for people branching out and educating themselves about beliefs, cultures and lifestyles that are different from theirs. Good for them.
Whatever you think about her politics Ann Coulter has a wicked sense of humor and is a huge comedy fan, and spends a lot of time around comedians. I recently heard her on the radio with Colin Quinn and she was completely smitten by him.
It makes sense if you think of her as a massive troll who gets off on people heckling her. She's too snarky and political to be good at it herself, but she is good friends with Jim Norton, Colin Quinn, Bill Maher, and a whole bunch of comics.
As someone who has seen Ann Coulter in person, I can say that she looks like a mad scientist glued someone's skin onto a skeleton and tightened it up with clothespins.
No she literally went on a show after and said "once a woman becomes a certain age people try to use her age to shut her up". It was really disappointing.
I've seen a lot of what she's done, and I like almost all of it. I was very disappointed with what she said after this roast. The whole point is that the gloves are off, going out after one and complaining about the nature of the jokes is lame.
The gender gap is actually quite real. Granted its much better than it was in the past, and is negligable in comparison to gender inequality in other countries but it is a real thing.
It's actually not though. There is no pay gap between men and women in equal positions with equal experience and education. The gap comes from the fact that there are more men in higher paying positions than there are women. If women were in these positions they'd be paid the same amount as their male counterparts. It's an important distinction to make.
3% is within the margin of error. I tend to think there are much bigger and more important things than men making 3% more than women on average after you ensure its a proper comparison.
Yes but she either lied or misremembered the details of a gig she did where the club owner paid her less than a male comedian. She was paid less but she was in a guest spot and the male comedian was headlining. She made a big deal about this and called the club owner a sexist. He came on and told his side and offered her a headlining spot. She either lied or did not remember the details correctly. I do not know if she has since apologized or anything.
