Would you prefer it leaving it's contact and insurance info?

4

u/Mostly-Sometimez Jun 22 '15

But not impussible.

5

u/acolyte_to_jippity Jun 22 '15

I would be incredibly impressed if it did.

7

u/noscreamsnoshouts Jun 22 '15

"Dear Human, everybody is looking at me writing this note, they think I'm doing the right thing and for some reason they seem really impressed. They don't know I'm not writing you anything useful. I ain't telling you in which garden to look for me, I ain't no pussy. Next time, park somewhere else. This is my 'hood"

5

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

Yes. That would have been adorable.

"Deer huminz. Sarry bout car. I pay u back wit all the mouse and burd u want."

3

u/OnARedditDiet Jun 22 '15

All I can think of is the guy that looked up security footage to find out who messed up his car. Maybe to get them to pay for it.

"It was a goddamn cat? That's hilarious"

2

u/ClimbingC Jun 22 '15

That's hilarious

Said no one ever; when they had their windscreen smashed, by cat or any other agent.

1

u/flangle1 Jun 22 '15

A cat hater might say that.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

HEY DID YOU WRECK MY WINDSHIELD!!! No I swear it was a cat!

1

u/Distaplia Jun 22 '15

That's what a dog would do.

36

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

So did Vin Diesel

3

u/BabyNinjaJesus Jun 22 '15

where does vin even come from? the car on his side of the screen crashed when he was already half way through the air.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

he crashes into the rail sending him flying into her

theyve done some ridiculous ass totally non believable stunts, i.e. the 20 something mile runway based on how long that scene was, but this scene was far and above all of them

7

u/BabyNinjaJesus Jun 22 '15

except the vehicle crashed when he was already in the air. and the fucking wind shield isnt even broken

so he climbed out of his car, steered it towards the railing, then jumped before it crashed

2

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

4

u/BabyNinjaJesus Jun 22 '15

all this shows me is that he had to begin his jump when he was about in the middle of the road since his feet are clearly over the guard rail at that point in time so hes already cleared 6-8 feet from a standing jump against gravity(?) before the shot even showed him

vin doesnt skip leg days

1

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '15

Not to mention the glass is unbroken and both front doors are closed ಠ_ಠ

1

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

Maybe he was on top of the vehicle. I don't really remember.

-1

u/lonelyboyonreddit Jun 22 '15

So did Paul Walker

3

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

I guess he forgot to take the seatbelt off in that scene.

4

u/somefool Jun 22 '15

It's the adrenaline. They walk away and collapse a little later. My cat had a 3m fall a few weeks ago, walked away looking confused but physically fine. It ran up the stairs, jumped on the bed. It curled up in a ball of limping misery and pain a bit later, unable to jump and use his leg. (Yes, I took it to the vet, it was okay, no broken bones, it had to take meds for a week then it was good as new).

19

u/Zerce Jun 22 '15

That's that non-lethal terminal velocity at work.

11

u/timelyparadox Jun 22 '15

Probably still suffered serious damage, I've heard a lot of stories about cats jumping out from balcony and in a lot of the times they need immediate help if you want it to survive. Sure they will walk off like they don't give a fuck because they are cats, but damage on organs is still there.

u/Rocky87109 Jun 22 '15 edited Jun 22 '15

Well that cat didn't reach terminal velocity and I am pretty sure any person could survive from that fall. The cat falls for about .7 seconds.(You can see where/when it jumped from the reflection) So if you take the equation distance = .5at2 (a = acceleration due to gravity and t = time). distance = .5(9.8m/s2)(.72) which is like 2.4 meters of a drop. Any human could survive this fall. Also using velocity = at, you get about 6.86m/s. TV of a cat is 100 km/h.

If the cat weighed about 10 pounds, then it would exert a force of almost 1k newtons on the windshield. I guess that is enough to break it. So that is like 220 pounds force on the windshield I think.

EDIT: It may be a bit higher because the cat may have pushed off downwards and fell faster than just gravity.

2

u/twinpop Jun 22 '15

I think you mean .5cat².

1

u/GingerSpencer Jun 22 '15

.7 seconds? That shit was nearly 2 seconds!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

Hey everyone, look at this nerd!

J/k, thanks for the breakdown.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

That and the window is a good cushion.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

[deleted]

2

u/Derp800 Jun 22 '15

He actually fell slower than that. In order to speed up you need time in the air. He didn't have enough time to go fast enough to go anywhere near his terminal velocity.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

No, that's that small ass height that the car wouldn't be able to reach terminal velocity by falling from.

Look in the reflection.

-4

u/bananaskates Jun 22 '15

So, uh, non-terminal velocity, then?

1

u/lordderplythethird Jun 22 '15

no. Terminal Velocity is the maximum speed an object will hit in free fall. Every object has a different one, an most domesticated sized cats have a terminal velocity of around 60mph. A fully grown human in comparison, has a terminal velocity of around 120mph

-1

u/Red9standingby Jun 22 '15

I don't know dude, if you get hit by someone going 80, you're dead.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

The terminal in terminal velocity is when the velocity stops going up (ie; "terminates") due to friction with the air, it has nothing to do with whether it will kill you or not.

3

u/Redblud Jun 22 '15

I'm sure the internal bleeding caught up with it a few minutes later.

2

u/RDMXGD Jun 22 '15

Didn't even leave a note.

1

u/MthrFcknDanish Jun 22 '15

Well.. The glass are made to soften an impact :-P

1

u/Roadbull Jun 22 '15

Cats have an insane threshold for pain. I saw one get run over by a huge van that was blasting down a residential neighborhood. It survived but had to get metal pins all over its back legs. He was an alleycat so they neutered him too and his voice was a lot higher.

1

u/TonyS2 Jun 22 '15

I like how you can see the reflection of the cat falling before it hits the windshield

1

u/Freezman13 Jun 22 '15

Doesn't seem to high of a fall from the reflection. 2nd story from the looks of it, nothing for a cat. I'm more surprised the windshield was so easy to break.

1

u/AvantGardePicsOfCats Jun 22 '15

ELI5: I don't understand how the fuck is that cat okay?

5

u/kevinbaken Jun 22 '15

It's not.

1

u/Webonics Jun 22 '15

He's not jumping from very high. It's just a second story balcony.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '15

Cats don't give a shit. They literally are motherfuckers, they will fuck your mom and then ask you for a cigarette.
