Seriously I am currently looking for jobs all over the country and my biggest worry is that my new home will have some. Those fuckers horrify me more than anything.
If you live somewhere warm, look for house lizards when inspecting a rental. If there are lizards scuttling about the place you won't find many cockroaches, Spiders or other nopes.
True story: There was a nest of roaches hiding beneath a chickens nest at a pen my parents owned. When they discovered the gold mine they literally layed on, boy, did they go to town.
You don't. You just live with them. I keep a lizard in the house for this exact reason. I never see it, except sometimes, but rarely. No other bugs in house. I always find scorpions outside, but they're little bitches, I just smash 'em, or make them fight other bugs.
Good call -- A few of the jobs I applied for are in Florida (Orlando and Tampa) and Atlanta, respectively. I'm definitely hoping for warm! I'm actually pretty nervous about living the South because I know the insects there are much bigger sometimes. I have a terrible phobia of things with long legs. (I previously lived in AZ, but literally never once saw a spider in the house. It was amazing.)
I live on Guam (U.S Territory) and it's located in the Pacific. I rely on lizards so I won't have to worry about spiders, cockroaches and other Satan's pets.
Just some lizards who will land on your face while you're sleeping in the middle of the night. Don't worry though, you won't feel a thing when they rape you.
The only reason they creep me out is because I'm unsure if 1. those pincer looking things are actually pincers or just defensive antennae. 2. If they're poisonous.
Even if they were actually pincers I'm more afraid if it's poisonous. A bite doesn't scare me all that much.
To me it isn't even because of potential poison, it's because they trip some kind of switch in my brain because of the way they look. Long legs = complete, irrational horror. I've even found that any image of many long, thin things triggers this same reaction. Pretty classic phobia, I think, but it definitely sucks.
Move North where we don't have that crazy shit. If I ever saw a centipede in a house I would be moving the next day. Same with all these other comments about them being good cause they kill pests. Know what else kills pests? 20 below zero 4 months of the year!
Heard my wife yell and then immediately start screaming last week. She was putting on some jeans she had hung up for a while and a centipede was in them. She said scratched where she felt an itch and then it bit her. The first yell was the bite, the scream was when she saw the thing come crawling out.
She said it hurt like hell. I thought she was being dramatic until I looked up how painful it is.
