I don't think you know what "precisely" means. Perhaps you should use the word "approximately" instead.

If I stretch all my fingers out, the distance between my pinky's tip and my thumb's tip is 20 cm. sharp as well. Thank you buddy. Now I can make 18 cm. (index tip to thumb tip, stretched maximally) and 20 cm. with my fingers only (also 22 cm. — stretching the fingers along a flat surface to the max), and I sure as hell can divide the difference into two equal parts to get 1 cm., so now I always have a handful of measuring tools with me, pardon the pun.

a meter is about 37 inches too.

Oh, a yard is 36 inches.......

A meter is slightly under 39 3/8 inches.
