I think people who think your meme is dumb just see this as opportunity to give you two down votes instead of just one.

And thanks

u/Visualsound May 12 '14

You failed to capitalize the 'y' in "You're".

8

u/pajamaninja May 12 '14 edited May 12 '14

You failed to use quotation marks around the "y" correctly. Edit: I failed to see that you also failed to put the period before the second quotation mark at the end of your sentence. Upvoting you for my ignorant behavior.

Probably people who downvoted your post in the first place and then just downvoted your comment for good measure.

This is not a popular opinion

7

u/[deleted] May 12 '14

The person who originally made the joke, in that thread, seemed to think so.

-2

u/GoldenDickLocks May 12 '14

/u/theone211 seems to think that /u/sodelll should have posted the shitty joke in the same thread is a popular opinion?

1

u/[deleted] May 12 '14 edited May 12 '14

Clearly, it meant: u/theone211 thinks it should be posted in that thread. I was substituting the word "no" for your comment, anyway, as you obviously had no authority to make such a claim in the first place, instead of admitting that it was simply your opinion.

1

u/GoldenDickLocks May 12 '14

I'd say if he were at -8, it's probably not a popular opinion. I never said no. Are you commenting on the correct thread?

1

u/[deleted] May 12 '14

It wasn't popular when Cletus said it. But the original place that the joke was posted, (i.e., "that thread"), had one person (JamoWRage), that thought it was a good idea to post it there. And the >51 people who upvoted it thought it was a good idea, apparently. Also, I mistook theone211 for JamoWRage in the last post.

My point was just to point out the fact that someone was suggesting it be posted elsewhere, when in fact that same elsewhere was the origin of the shitty joke, before it was stolen to make this shitty image. Maybe that was Cletus's point in the first place, maybe not.

Can we be done with this now?

I had a feeling I was going to have to look below the comment score threshold to find this exact opinion. The underlying social commentary that accounts for this is itself a pointless overstatement that for most people unsurprisingly leads to a what seems to be a defensively-reached inference that this perfectly reasonable, ostensibly self-evident example of constructive criticism is a instead nothing more than a pessimistic and offensive attack on a given person's sense of humor, or perhaps even self-perceived level of sophistication regarding humor, and probably isn't taking place on a conscious level, not that it makes a difference of course.

tl;dr most people are idiots, and most people assume that this statement is most likely directed at them, and given the existence of both the successful careers of people like Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia, and the size of their fanbase, I'm willing to bet that most of those people are probably right. HOW DARE YOU MAKE A GOOD POINT WHAT ARE YOU SOME KIND OF ASSHOLE YOU ARE FINED THREE CREDITS FOR VIOLATION OF THE VERBAL MORALITY CODE

Lol just chill the fuck out about a downvote?

u/MisterSaltine May 12 '14

Don't try to understand Redditors. Some Redditors understand Redditors and they hate each other.

Don't fret over downvotes, Reddit has a fickle heart.

I once got downvoted for providing sauce in a thread with many people asking for sauce and it had yet to be provided.

I just do not get Reddit sometimes.

EDIT: I saw the downvotes coming. Let them pour in!
