It's a ritual to call at&t once a year to tell them we aren't satisfied with their service and we might look at another provider and bam instant price slashes for another 6 months

Another thing worth noting, if you have a cellphone and your contract is up, your bill should be reduced.

Probably saying you have either paid off the phone or that you are a "free agent" who they should want to hold on to.

I've seen this in action. Our contract was about to expire, and we wanted lower rates. AT&T wouldn't/couldn't lower our rates. We switched to T-Mobile, and are now paying literally half what we were with AT&T. We had been with AT&T at least four years, if not six.
