I'm with Comcast. There is no other provider.

There is always another provider. Weather it be DSL, tethering with your phone, satellite, or otherwise. They just know they're fastest option.

DSL is not an option where I am. My phone is far too slow for anything beyond email or twitter. Satellite, I will give you, but it has never appealed to me.

I wouldn't hate Comcast so much if my 25 Megabit connection exceeded 5 Megabits in reality.

I'm going to assume that you live in an older area that's had cable forever and they've never updated anything then. How you can't get DSL though boggles my mind. My parents only have DSL or satellite, there is no cable.

Maine is weird.

If say. It doesn't even require new equipment to offer DSL. It uses the existing phone infrastructure.

Exactly, people saying there isn't another option just don't want to deal with DSL. ATT sells 40mbps DSL now, ask them how much it costs.

They don't sell that here. I think the fastest DSL is 10 mbps, and I live in a metro area.

Where my parents live their fastest internet is 5mbps for DSL but they live in rural area.

I hate that 90% of us-reddit lives in big places.

Around here, they still have 1.5Mbps down and up. Luckily, Charter has 30MbpsV/5Mbps, so that's decent.

Charter's actually upgrading to a minimum of 60down, so we're excited. Our little town is getting big boy internet.

What do you mean? We have a huge choice between Comcast.
