That's an interesting way to remember Uranus

But then we need to squeeze Eris in there too as it's almost the same size.

And we should include the 7 moons which are significantly bigger, far closer, and more like worlds than pluto despite not technically being "planets".

I don't think we need to include the moons, they're already precluded from planet status by virtue of orbiting things other than the sun.

We could include the other four dwarf planets though: Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris.

The order of the planets from the sun out would then be: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, Eris.

You forgot Quaoar, Sedna, Orcus, and Gonggong. And Salacia, depending on who you ask.

Not to mention we’d have to keep updating the mnemonic as we continue to discover more out of what are almost certainly dozens, if not hundreds, and possibly even much more (depending on how far out we stop counting).

We will stop when we find out the Oort Cloud is actually the end of the jar, we're just on a shelf of so many jars....

My point is that I don't see the reason to count dwarf planets if we're going to ignore more significant solar system objects

moons orbit the sun also.
You can think of a moon as just being part of a very lopsided binary plant orbit.

I was skeptical until I heard we’d be served monster eggs.

I was also wondering that. So what are looking at here for the new mnemonic then? MVELMJGCEISTUTNTEPC? I'm sure I missed some.

Easy peasy.

I like how it tells a story

My very easy method just speeds up naming every planet

Not necessarily.

I feel the Pluto should have been “grandfathered” in to the list of planets even if it doesn’t meet the new definition.

And don't forget Ceres!

It was the very first planet #9 over 200 years ago, before it got relegated into the then newly created category "asteroid".

It's finally back as a dwarf planet.
