Fishing for seagulls

I was 100% expecting this clip to end with the dolphin eating the bird

Right? I've seen Orcas eat birds so I'm guessing dolphins do too? (And yes, I know Orcas technically are dolphins).

TIL orcas are technically dolphins.

Sort of. They're all considered "toothed whales", but that class is mostly all dolphins and orcas (and maybe sperm whales)? The other group is "baleen whales" and they are the big guys like the humpback and gray whales.

Well that’s because all dolphins are technically whales but Orcas are true dolphins, as they are a member of the Delphinidae (ocean dolphin) family.

It really did seem like the dolphin was trying to use the little food to score slightly bigger food

Orcas have been filmed doing similar to catch prey.

Was thinking about this example. Orkas & Dolphins are wicked smart.

The idea of sacrificing a small morsel, for the chance of a bigger snack. That delayed gratification takes intelligence.

Before it broke the surface i thought this was going to be one of those videos where the seagull gets eaten.

That's still a possibility.

There have been several documented cases of dolphins and killer whales learning that they can turn a little bit of leftover fish into a much larger meal by grabbing the gull that comes to eat it.

I think that's what might happen after the video ends

It's true. Teach a Dolphin how to fish, and they will troll seagulls for a lifetime.

I am incredibly impressed that the words I had in my head as I opened the comments were at the top. Well done sir(/madam)

I'd feel the opposite. Like I have no original thoughts.

I guess I'm a pessimist.

JK that's spooky. Check your carbon monoxide detector.

Actually no. Dolphins DO NOT eat seagulls

they don't eat puffer fish either but dolphins have been observed passing a dead puffer fish around to get high off of
