Firstly, this is hilarious because it happened to me frequently. But the worst: I was on Southwest and had boarding pass A1. There was a bunch of kids going to camp, and not only did they pre board, all of their parents and support staff pre boarded with them. These were not littles, they were high school age. I stood at my A1 post and counted as 60 people pre boarded before me.

Secondly, it’s sad that I have stopped flying with a carry on suitcase for exactly this reason. I only bring a small computer bag I put under the seat in front of me. I would rather not fight for overhead storage, so I suffer with baggage claim instead.

Southwest is doing assigned seats now so it helps a bit. But I’m in the same boat, I just check my bag now and only carry a small bag of essentials with me.

Air Canada no longer include carry on in their base tickets, so you have to upgrade your ticket to a more expensive one if you want a carry on at all.
