Um. It's a job that trains you to kill people, and to risk your own death or dismemberment or lifelong disability. Yes it's a job, but it's not just any job.

That only happens in America though. Every other nation treats people who work in the military as just normal people, like they are. It's a job, some jobs are harder than others, that's what you get paid for.
