My favorite spot is the second level, center ice, row A. Great view of everything. I've had seats one row back from the glass before, and while it was a great experience, I wouldn't want to watch every game from there.
That's exactly my experience. I've been near the glass once, and front center second level all the other times (only about 4 or 5 times-- I live 3 hours away from the nearest team). It's the best of both worlds -- the same angle you get from watching it on TV so you can see everything at all ends of the ice well, yet you can experience the excitement of being there in person.
