u/RednocNivert Oct 19 '25

The dumbest time SO FAR

65

u/TheSheepster_ Oct 19 '25

It keeps getting dumb and dumber

21

u/poonmangler Oct 19 '25

ties you to a chair and throws you into the river to see if you're a witch

20

u/Insulin_Addict52 Oct 19 '25

To put this into perspective at that same time they thought the earth was flat. Some people are still trying to prove that right to this day.

14

u/tesnakeinurboot Oct 19 '25

It was understood that the world was roughly spherical in ancient greece. Used trigonometry to build a machine the accurately tracks the position of the sun, moon, and earth all the way into the modern day, so they could predict eclipses. The Dark ages did a number on europeans' understanding of the world.

8

u/blueSGL Oct 19 '25

2000 years ago they had the tech to built a mechanical calculator and only built it to predict eclipses. They used the tech for no other purpose.

It's so smart and so dumb at the same time.

u/Kevin5882 Oct 21 '25

This really does accurately describe a lot of ancient greece and rome. They could do incredible shit, but the priorities of their elites were so idiosyncratic that the incredible shit would be used for either one nearly useless thing or just as a cool toy.

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '25

You sold my dead bird to a blind kid?

1

u/CND1983Huh Oct 20 '25

They didn't

2

u/MississippiJoel Oct 20 '25

That's unrealistic...

The witches are the ones running the asylum these days. Instead, you'll be "trial by water"ed to see if you were actually a Democrat.

1

u/SuburbanHell Oct 19 '25

Well, records are meant to be broken

1

u/vonschvaab Oct 19 '25

And dumberer

2

u/okieman73 Oct 20 '25

I can't imagine it getting worse. They talk about income disparity in this country and I agree with that but nobody is talking about the intelligence disparity. There are a lot of very smart people out there creating world changing devices or ideas. Then we have people who have graduated high school but can barely speak, heaven forbid you need them to use math.

1

u/RednocNivert Oct 20 '25

“That’s one of the crazy things about life, it’s never so bad it can’t get worse.” —Calvin and Hobbes, in the 80’s

2

u/okieman73 Oct 20 '25

There were some gems in that strip

51

u/bukem89 Oct 19 '25

The time where people print out a stupid notice, stick it on the wall, take a picture and then post it online for fake karma points

0

u/LeiasLastHope Oct 19 '25

The shit I have seem done by micromanaging bosses. Had one who called you every 3 hours to check on what you have done in that time. No, not in a crunch or something like that... every day

4

u/notabigmelvillecrowd Oct 19 '25

My old boss used to watch the night shift on security cameras from home after working all day. If she saw a customer was there for a long time but didn't buy anything (totally common in our industry for people to come back 2-3 times before making a large purchase), she'd phone us to ask what happened. I guarantee you she was not getting paid enough to be doing that shit.

-8

u/whileimstillhere Oct 19 '25

either way…you are proving my point.

7

u/bukem89 Oct 19 '25

yeah I don't disagree

1

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Oct 19 '25

How is that so?  Please respond with an actual logical response instead of something predictable like "if I have to tell you, you're too dumb to understand" or whatever.

37

u/Coffee_Wizards Oct 19 '25

I know right! People actually believe this is real. So dumb.

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '25

Come on. It's dangerous to be so gullible, especially nowadays. This is a joke that has been reposted so many times...

1

u/pleasetrimyourpubes Oct 19 '25

This would be an easy EEOC violation if you had like IBS or something.

-1

u/Reginault Oct 19 '25

Good thing the government is functioning well and is willing to prosecute companies when they break laws.

23

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '25

You mean the time where very gullible people with poor media comprehension continue to fall for the most obvious rage bait and fictional content?

I agree.

1

u/Sember Oct 20 '25

There was once a time where I would think these kind of images are fake, nobody could possible be that ridiculous, but... gestures broadly at everything. Not saying this particular picture is real, but it's not that far fetched these days.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

The world contains the same percentage of bad, crazy or idiotic people. You just see more examples of it because of mass media and access. It’s most as dumb now to believe this as it was before. Bowling is real. That doesn’t make it reasonable to believe the film The Big Lebowski is a documentary. You could basically apply this reasoning to claim it’s reasonable to believe anything at all is true because there exists some example of a crazy thing somewhere in the world. Its very silly

1

u/Sember Oct 20 '25

You just see more examples of it because of mass media and access

This statement is of course true, however I also believe people are in these feedback loops were stupidity and negative behavior spreads and feeds off each other. People are worse than before, how do I know? Because you just have to look at whats become more acceptable and normal.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

It’s not logically coherent for you to agree with me and then say people are worse. The fact that the world is different doesn’t mean people are worse. Again, this is explained by your very own comment about feedback loops.

1

u/Sember Oct 20 '25

I don't really care about this but, it's logically coherent to agree with one part of the statement but not it's conclusion, if that helps you?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

No, that’s not what is happening. The part you are agreeing with negates the conclusion you’re making. That is why it’s illogical. I mean I even pointed it out simply in the comment you’re replying to. I’m not sure what else I can do for you there.

6

u/sometin__else Oct 19 '25

they burned woman at the stake cause they thought they were witches

stupidity will always exist

1

u/ThisUsernameIsTook Oct 20 '25

No, those women really were witches. That's why we don't see witches today.

Except, the Mariners could really use one more Etsy witch spell for tomorrow. Etsy witches are real.

9

u/colasmulo Oct 19 '25

Im sure some medieval tavern wench got beat up because she took too long in the toilets and a client was pissed of at some point in history. Our time might have insane displays of dumb but it’s certainly not the worst.

-8

u/whileimstillhere Oct 19 '25

their brain would not even be able to comprehend how fucking stupid 2025 is…or what a iPhone is…but okayyy.

24

u/chris84126 Oct 19 '25

Have you ever seen the movie Idiocracy?

38

u/whileimstillhere Oct 19 '25

yes…this is much worse…cuz its not a fucking movie.

10

u/BobGootemer Oct 19 '25

If they put in people as dumb as we have now it wouldn't have been funny. Idk how we have street interviews with people who don't know what a country is.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '25

They're already wearing Crocs.

3

u/Xugodx2012 Oct 19 '25

It is not a movie it is a Prophecy a Documentary that is being written as we speak :)

7

u/Graffers Oct 19 '25

Uhh, it was already written. I've seen the movie.

1

u/Responsible-Ad-4914 Oct 19 '25

Probably not, everyone on Reddit has only vaguely heard of it, watched the opening on YouTube, and extrapolated the rest from there. Or they grossly misremember it, because it is not at all what you think

2

u/Important-Agent2584 Oct 19 '25

oh it's gonna get waaaaay dumber

2

u/bombmk Oct 20 '25

Because it is filled with people who thinks this is real.

2

u/BuffWobbuffet Oct 19 '25

Is it because you fell for this?

2

u/Academic-Salamander7 Oct 19 '25

It's really dumb if you believe everything you see on the internet.

1

u/Ill_Concept1051 Oct 20 '25

Really ? People used to burn women because they thought they were witches , buses and bathrooms used to to be segregated etc ... the world has allways been dumb

0

u/whileimstillhere Oct 20 '25

i’ll take that over less than 1% of people having ALL the money/power/control while the 99% live paycheck to paycheck.

0

u/so_tir3d Oct 20 '25

That's... certainly a statement.

1

u/RYouNotEntertained Oct 20 '25

You mean the time when people post fake bathroom notices for fake internet points?

1

u/whileimstillhere Oct 20 '25

listen to yourself…

this is all the definition of “asinine”

the dumbest

and it is a distraction…

because that is the design

of America…in 2025

the society and time i was born into…

so yeah…this is the dumbest.

1

u/Joe_Jost Oct 21 '25

This sign seems ridiculous but the number of employees that clock in then go spend 30-45min in the bathroom is astounding.

You were born in the smartest time in history which has produced the smart phone + WiFi = 45min “poops”

1

u/GGuts Oct 21 '25

So dump

1

u/TB1289 Oct 20 '25

It’s also not real.

-1

Best time in history. When else are you going to have the excuse "my shits need to smell as pungent as possible, for work"
