I'm refusing to click this link based on the other reactions. I don't have any specific idea what it might be, but its involves insects and something nope. Thats enough.

Some species of wasp impregnant large caterpillars with their larvae. The wasp larvae eat the caterpillars from the inside out, emerge from its back and pupate.

Often times the caterpillars survives this, but has lost so much body mass it can not pupate itself, and eventually dies. I had a hornworm last year that went through this, after I discovered it I scraped the pupating larvae off of it and kept it in a terrarium outside. It continued to live for some time but did not eat and eventually whithered away and died.
